This is us
We are a family that proudly looks back on a long tradition of wine growing in Salta, Argentina. Our ancestors were pioneers of viticulture in the Calchaquí Valley more than 100 years ago.
And we are two brothers, Juan and Matías Etchart .
Juan (right) emigrated to Germany in 2008 for love – he still lives in Hamburg with his bi-national family. Matías (left) stayed in our home province of Salta in order to realize his dream of being a winemaker on his own finca from 2010.
On "Arca Yaco" Matías poses now produces premium wines on just a few hectares. The beauty and seclusion of "Arca Yaco" are breathtaking. The combination of passion, expertise, hard work, ideal climate and the special nature of the terroir explain the internationally recognized quality of the wines produced here.
It is important to us to offer our customers worldwide the best taste of our homeland. That's why we focus on quality and not quantity. With the production of just a few thousand bottles a year, we can personally inspect all production steps carefully
to ensure.
Master of Wine Tim Atkin (UK) about us
The renowned Master of Wine (MW) Tim Atkin (photo) is certainly the MW who knows Argentina and its wines best. He has traveled the country for over 30 years and has explored every wine region in the country. He has got to know and evaluated our wines since the 2016 vintage. Our wines have always received top ratings.
In the 2019 vintage, the "Amar y Vivir - Malbec" was awarded 96 points . The "Amar y Vivir - Cabernet Sauvignon" is Argentina's highest rated Cabernet Sauvignon and was awarded 95 points by Tim .
And it gets even better: Of the more than 300 fincas that Tim has visited in Argentina, he has placed "Arca Yaco" in the top 5 .
At the top of Argentina
We are very pleased to have experienced such a response in the media and in the professional world in the first few years of our finca "Arca Yaco".
For example, the sommelier Paz Levinson , "Best Sommelier of the Americas 2015" and "Regional Chair for Argentina for the Decanter World Wine Awards" placed us among the five best Argentine wines of 2020 in the country's largest magazine, Clarín (https: //www.clarin.com/gourmet/mejores-vinos-argentinos-2020-expertos_0_mf_u_Jxik.html).
From Argentina to the world
Some of the best restaurants and most exclusive hotels in Argentina have our wines on their menus. The Hyatt and Four Seasons hotels in Buenos Aires offer our wines; as well as the "Parrilla Don Julio", one of the top 10 restaurants in Latin America (https://www.theworlds50best.com/latinamerica/en/list/1-50).
The popularity of our wines has long since crossed borders. They can now be found in several countries in South America, in the USA, in the UK and in the European Union.
